The future is looking bright with some exceptional new talent on the tools at Ramsey Bros and on Wednesday 19 October 2022, we crowned our latest young gun at the first inaugural Ramsey Bros Apprentice of the Year Awards.
Adelaide Oval was the perfect backdrop and huge congratulations go to our finalists — Jacob Ferrari (Murray Bridge Branch) and Josh Taylor (Riverton Branch) — and of course, our big winner, Riley Haines (Cleve Branch)!
After delays caused by COVID restrictions, we were thrilled to be able to celebrate our 2021 Ramsey Bros Apprentice finalists with their families, Ramsey Bros Branch and Service Managers, CEO and Executive Team. Riley, Jacob and Josh were all nominated by senior mentors for always setting exceptional standards during the year and their performance during the Ramsey Bros Apprentice Exchange Program.
Picking a winner was a close call, but as a third-year apprentice during the 2021 Apprentice Exchange program, Riley stood out well beyond his years. His overall talent, knowledge, communication and professionalism have set the bar high for this rising star. Our finalists each received a $250 voucher and Riley took away a solid $500 voucher to put towards new work tools.
“We were stoked with Riley taking out the award — he definitely earned it!’ says Cleve Branch Manager Matt Crettenden. “He’s a lad that leads by example and some may say a little fussy — everything has to be done by the book and there’s no rushing him but that’s why the quality of his work is at such a high standard. Riley’s a solid team player and is already well respected by the team. We can’t wait to see what’s ahead for him.”
It’s no secret to those in the know, our industry leading Apprentice Exchange Program is a significant part of a fulfilling career in agricultural machinery servicing. The world will always need farmers and farmers will always need machinery and we’re proud to offer our apprentice technicians the exclusive opportunity to work on some of the most advanced farm machinery around as well as a multi-branch network to broaden their depth of experience.
“There is nothing like seeing our young apprentices grow into fully qualified technicians and the quality of apprentices we are seeing through second and third year is a testament to the senior technicians and mentors here at Ramsey Bros. This is what sets our apprenticeship apart and we’re proud to be players in their journey,” Ramsey Bros CEO, Mark Ward says.
As part of the fully-supervised exchange program, each apprentice is transferred between the service departments at Murray Bridge, Riverton, Cleve, Wudinna and Cummins four times a year, to expose them to different seasonal patterns as well as the variety of tasks under the supervision of new senior technicians.
The 2022 Apprentice Exchange Program has now finished, with our second-year winners and finalists in line to be presented with awards in early 2023 and the door is wide open for our 2023 intake. So, if you’ve ever considered a career with unmatched variety, location and lifestyle, we’d love to hear from you.
